Cut-to-shape stickers (round, square) arrive as individual stickers, ready to peel and stick. Sticker sheets are printed on one sheet that you cut, peel or use as a set. If you sell sticker packs, a sheet is what you want; if you want to seal packages, order cut stickers.

Good custom sticker design is less about fancy artwork and more about clarity. Follow these nine rules and even a first design will look like it came from a real brand.
- Give the sticker one job. Is it a seal, a product label or a thank-you? A seal needs a logo; a label needs the product name; a thank-you needs one warm sentence.
- Keep it simple. The most popular small-business stickers are a monogram (a letter or two in a ring) or a clean wordmark (your brand name in one good font).
- Use strong contrast. Dark text on a light background, or light on dark. Low-contrast text disappears on a small sticker.
- Limit colours to two or three. Fewer colours look more premium and match your packaging better.
- Keep text readable. As a rule of thumb, keep letters at least about 2 mm tall on small stickers and avoid very thin lines that can fade when printed small.
- Leave a safe margin. Keep important elements about 3 mm inside the edge so nothing is cut off.
- Design for the shape. Centre a monogram in a circle; give a rectangular wordmark room in a square. Do not squeeze a long name into a small round sticker.
- Match your brand everywhere. Use the same fonts and colours as your Instagram page, your box and your bag so customers recognise you instantly.
- Check it at real size. Zoom your design to actual size on screen (or print it on plain paper) before ordering. If you cannot read it comfortably, make the text larger.

How to prepare your design file for printing
A blurry print almost always comes from a small or low-quality file, not from the printer. These basics make sure your logo stickers come out sharp.
File format
Send a PNG, JPG, WEBP or PDF. Logos look best as a transparent-background PNG or a vector PDF. At Surface Wolf you can upload files up to 15 MB on the order page, or send them on WhatsApp if the file is larger or you are not sure it is right.
Resolution: aim for 300 DPI at final size
300 DPI means 300 pixels for every inch of the sticker. Here is the minimum size your image should be:

Bigger is always fine. Never enlarge a small image to reach these numbers: it just makes the blur bigger. Never screenshot a logo from Instagram either. Ask your designer for the original file.
Bleed and safe area
If your design has a background colour that touches the edge, extend it about 3 mm beyond the intended cut line (this is called bleed) so no thin white edge appears after cutting. Keep text and logos about 3 mm inside the edge (the safe area).
Colours: screen vs print
Screens mix light (RGB); printers use ink (CMYK). Very bright neon colours on a screen can print slightly softer. That is normal, so do not judge a colour only from a phone screen. Ask the printer to confirm the design with you before printing, as we do on WhatsApp.
Fonts and QR codes
- If you send a PDF, convert fonts to outlines (or embed them) so text does not change.
- For QR codes (for example to your Instagram or WhatsApp), keep them at least about 2 cm wide, dark on light, and scan-test with more than one phone before ordering.

7 sticker mistakes that waste money
- Ordering before measuring. A sticker that does not fit is money wasted. Measure first.
- Sending a low-resolution logo. Blurry files give blurry stickers. Aim for 300 DPI at final size.
- Too much text. If your sticker is smaller than a coin, keep it to a logo and maybe one line.
- Choosing paper for wet products. Match the material to where the product lives.
- Skipping the design check. Confirm spelling, phone number and colours before printing.
